SAYS ITS BACKED BY LAW.
Eric advises that the Honourable Member should, through the appropriate committees of the House of Representatives, summon the leadership of:
1) Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED)
2) Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN)
3) Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)
to appear before the National Assembly and clearly explain:
Why Ogoja/Yala has been in prolonged darkness
The real technical, operational, or regulatory challenges.
Definite timelines for restoring stable electricity
Constitutional Backing
This action is not just a suggestion it is backed by law.
Under the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended):
Section 88 empowers the National Assembly to conduct investigations into matters affecting the welfare of citizens,
Section 89 gives the House the authority to summon any person or authority, require evidence, and demand accountability.
This Matters a whole lot to the People of Ogoja/Yala federal Constituency who have been without electricity over the last 2 decades.
Electricity is not a luxury it is a basic driver of development.
Businesses are suffering, households are struggling, and economic growth in Ogoja/Yala is being held back indefinitely.
This is the time for oversight, accountability, and action.
Call to Action
We urge our Representative to:
Raise this issue on the floor of the House
Engage the House Committees on Power and Privatization.
Ensure a public hearing if necessary, Push for clear, time-bound solutions. our People deserve to know the challenges , the proposed solutions and timelines for completion .
Ogoja/Yala deserves light. The time to act is NOW.
