In a bold demonstration of loyalty, sacrifice, and commitment to the unity of the Yala people, Sir Francis Peters KSJI has announced his withdrawal from the race for the Yala 1 seat in the Cross River State House of Assembly, throwing his full weight behind Hon. Brian Odey in line with the directive of High Chief Higgins Peters, the revered Natural Leader of the North.
The decision, according to Sir Peters, follows the directive and wise counsel of High Chief Higgins Peters, the Natural Leader of the North. Demonstrating respect, loyalty, political maturity, and commitment to the greater good, Sir Francis Peters stated that his personal ambition cannot supersede the unity of the Yala people and the overall interest of the party.
In a show of sportsmanship and solidarity, Sir Francis Peters personally reached out to Hon. Brian Odey to formally communicate his decision to step down from his ambition, congratulating him and assuring him of his unwavering support as the party moves forward in unity.
Addressing his supporters after the announcement, Sir Francis Peters urged them to remain steadfast and united, stressing that the decision was made in the best interest of the party and the constituency, as greater days lie ahead for the O’Oh / Okpoma people.
In his words:
“We didn’t lose. The party is supreme, and my ambition cannot be greater than that of the party and Yala 1 State Constituency at large.”
He further stated:
“My ambition cannot be greater than the interest of the party and the betterment of Yala 1 unity.
We sincerely appreciate all our supporters across Yala 1 State Constituency and those sympathetic to our cause across the state.
We thank our chiefs, the women, the youths, our teeming supporters, and the entire people of O’Oh / Okpoma Ward. I am letting go of this ambition for the peace and unity of our party. There is still hope alive, and we can still do this together someday.”
Sir Francis Peters also expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, for what he described as people-oriented and purposeful leadership committed to the welfare and infrastructural development of the state.
He further acknowledged the support and encouragement of the Chief of Staff, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar, as well as Dr. Beatrice Igwe, Honourable Commissioner for Housing, Cross River State, for her continued support throughout the course of his political aspiration.
He equally appreciated other critical stakeholders who stood firmly by him throughout the journey.
