The Executive Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Chief Hon. Christopher Agbeh, has sworn in Hon. Mary Illah Otoro as the new Vice Chairman of the council. Otoro, who previously served as the Councillor representing Ogoja Urban Ward 2, took the oath of office following her nomination by the chairman in accordance with the provisions of the Cross River State Local Government Law, 2007 (as amended).
During the swearing-in ceremony, Agbeh urged the new Vice Chairman to remain faithful to her oath of office by upholding the Constitution and the laws guiding local government administration. He also charged her to demonstrate loyalty to constituted authority and to serve the people of Ogoja Local Government Area with dedication, transparency, and integrity.
Otoro, in her acceptance remarks, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to carry out her duties diligently. Her appointment follows the impeachment of the former Vice Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Idi Yakubu, by the Ogoja Legislative Council over allegations of gross misconduct, a decision later confirmed by the Cross River State House of Assembly, paving the way for her nomination and confirmation by the council.
