Beneficiaries of the TECHCELERATE 1.0 Digital Skills Program from the Ogoja/Yala Province paid a courtesy visit to the sponsor of the initiative, Dr. Beatrice Igwe, Honourable Commissioner for Housing, at her residence in Okuku.
The delegation, made up of participants from the recently concluded digital training program, came bearing gifts as a token of appreciation for Dr. Igwe’s humanitarian efforts and her commitment to empowering people through technology and digital skills.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Onah Ogri expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Beatrice Igwe for sponsoring the TECHCELERATE initiative, describing the program as a life-changing opportunity for many of the beneficiaries.
According to him, the training has equipped participants with practical knowledge in technology and computer skills, enabling them to better navigate opportunities in today’s digital world.
Mr. Ogri further noted that as a civil servant, the program has opened his mind to new possibilities in technology and innovation.
“I have never seen anything like this before. As a civil servant, I have been equipped with valuable knowledge in tech and computer skills. This program has broadened my understanding and created new opportunities for us,” he said.
Receiving the delegation, Dr. Beatrice Igwe expressed pleasant surprise at the visit, noting that she did not expect such a thoughtful gesture from the beneficiaries.
“Oh, what a pleasant surprise,” she remarked warmly while thanking them for the visit and the symbolic gifts presented to her.
Dr. Igwe encouraged the beneficiaries to continue practising and applying the skills they acquired during the training, emphasizing that the true impact of the program will be seen in how effectively the knowledge gained is put into use.
She also assured them of her continued support, urging them not to hesitate to reach out whenever they encounter challenges in the course of applying their skills.
The Commissioner further disclosed that plans are underway to continue the TECHCELERATE program, including initiatives to place members of the first cohort into internship opportunities within both government institutions and private sector organizations.
According to her, the goal is not only to train participants but also to ensure they gain practical experience that will enable them to contribute meaningfully to society and the growing digital economy.
The TECHCELERATE initiative has continued to attract commendations for its focus on equipping individuals with relevant digital skills and creating pathways for empowerment and self-reliance.
