How Father Francis Eworo Looked Back by Eric Kanjal.
I still remember vividly what happened after the 2011 elections.
At the time, I had contested under the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), which later merged with other parties to form what we now know as the APC. Like many candidates, I had invested heavily time, energy, and resources driven by a genuine desire to address the issues bedeviling Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.
After the elections, when the dust had settled, one man stood out.
Father Francis Eworo.
He was the only person who personally reached out to me. He called, introduced himself warmly, and commended me not just for contesting, but for standing up for the real issues affecting our people being the same issues affecting our people today , absence or basic amenities , namely Electricity, Pipe borne water , infrastructure and enabling opportunities for people and businesses to thrive .
That gesture alone meant a lot.
But he didn’t stop there.
Father prayed for me and, in an extraordinary show of understanding and support, insisted on sending me ₦250,000 to help me recoup part of what I had spent during the campaign. It was not about the money it was about the heart behind it. It was about recognizing sacrifice, encouraging courage, and standing with someone who dared to try.
Till today, I remain deeply grateful.
In a world where many disappear after elections, Father Francis Eworo chose to reach out, to uplift, and to remind me that service and sacrifice never go unnoticed.
